Old West Minisplits offers a flat price for the ductless mini split portion of your garage conversion. One zone for $2,000, two zones for $3,700, three zones for $5,400. That includes equipment, labor, line set, standard electrical, refrigerant, testing, cleanup, and even a run to Home Depot for touch-up paint. No trip fees, no upcharges, no surprises.
Why a Mini Split for Your Garage Conversion
Mini splits are heat pumps. They cool through brutal Central Texas summers and handle mild winters without a furnace. Because they require no ductwork, they fit naturally into a garage that was never built with forced air in mind.
Window units and portable air conditioners are temporary solutions. They block light, waste energy, and do not heat. A mini split becomes a permanent part of the room. It adds real value to the home and makes the space usable year round.
What the Flat Price Covers and What It Does Not
The flat price covers everything for a new mini split install: equipment, labor, line set, standard electrical, refrigerant, testing, cleanup, and touch-up paint. These are new installs only. If you need a repair or a service call, that is a different job with a different price.
Honest exceptions are stated up front. A very long line set, a panel upgrade the house already needed, or unusually difficult mounting may add cost. We tell you before work begins. Other trades like insulation, drywall, and electrical panel upgrades are arranged by the homeowner separately.
How Garage Conversion Differs From a Simple Mini Split Install
A garage conversion often involves insulating walls and ceiling, sealing gaps, and running new electrical circuits. The mini split is the climate control piece, but the room must be air-sealed for it to work efficiently. We recommend finishing the envelope before or alongside our installation.
We handle only the mini split installation. Our licensed contractors mount the indoor unit, run the line set, and connect the outdoor unit. The rest of the conversion is your project or another trade's. We can coordinate timing but cannot perform those trades.

Is the $2,000 price for a one-zone garage conversion really all-in?
Yes, for a new install. That price includes everything listed. Exceptions only for a very long line set, a panel upgrade the house already needed, or unusually difficult mounting. We tell you upfront before any work begins.
Do I need to insulate my garage before you install the mini split?
Not for the install itself. But for the mini split to work efficiently, the room should be insulated and air-sealed. We recommend finishing the envelope first. We can install before or after, but performance will suffer without insulation.
Can you handle the electrical work for the mini split?
We include standard electrical within the flat price. That means running a dedicated circuit from the panel, provided the panel has capacity and is within reasonable distance. If your home needs a panel upgrade, that is a separate job for a licensed electrician.
What if my garage has high ceilings or an unusual layout?
We handle standard mounting. Unusually difficult mounting, such as vaulted ceilings requiring special brackets or very long line set runs, may be an exception we discuss. Our flat price covers typical garage conversions. We quote any extra before starting.
