A through-the-wall AC lives in a metal sleeve cut through an exterior wall. It cools a single room much like a window unit, except the window stays free. The compressor and fan sit in the room with you. Many of these units cool only, or they add electric resistance heat that is expensive to run.
A mini split keeps the compressor outside. A compact indoor head mounts on the wall and connects with a small refrigerant line set. Ductless mini split installs in Central Texas commonly run $3,000-$6,000 per zone when a contractor writes a custom quote after an in-home sales visit. Old West Minisplits posts the price: $2,000 for one zone, $3,700 for two, $5,400 for three. Equipment, labor, line set, standard electrical, refrigerant, testing, cleanup, and a Home Depot run for touch-up paint are included. No trip fees or surprise add-ons. The only honest exceptions, told up front, are a very long line set, a panel upgrade the house already needed, or unusually difficult mounting. A through-the-wall unit looks cheaper on the shelf, yet you still pay to cut the sleeve, run a circuit, and live with one-room performance.
Heat, noise, and how the systems live in the house
Mini splits are heat pumps. They deliver cooling for Texas summers and heating for mild winters. The indoor unit is a quiet fan. The loud parts stay outdoors. A through-the-wall sleeve unit puts the entire machine in the occupied room, so it is louder, it can drip condensate, and it is far less efficient, in the same family as window units and portable ACs. If you want more than one room, each sleeve unit needs its own hole and circuit. Extra mini split zones follow the published flat prices.
Replacing a sleeve or starting fresh
You do not need an existing sleeve to get a mini split. The line set uses a much smaller penetration. An old sleeve opening can be closed, insulated, and painted (touch-up paint is part of the job). If a through-the-wall unit is failing, aging, or poorly matched to the room, a new flat-price mini split is often the practical next step rather than another round of repairs on the old box. Will a mini split work if I already have a through-the-wall sleeve?
Yes. The mini split does not use the sleeve. The old opening can be closed, insulated, and finished. You get a heat pump instead of another noisy box in the wall.
Does Old West Minisplits repair through-the-wall units?
No. Old West Minisplits is flat-price new installation only. If a sleeve unit is broken, check power, the filter, and the condensate drain first. An aging or struggling unit is often a reason to price a new mini split rather than keep repairing the old one.

What is not included in the $2,000?
