When there is no chase, no attic, and no spare capacity
The original air handler was sized for the rooms it already serves. A later addition, a finished garage, or a sunroom on a slab does not inherit a supply boot. In Killeen, Temple, Belton, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Waco, Salado, and Jarrell, many of those rooms sit on concrete with no floor cavity. Cutting a long flex run through finished space is a remodeling job, not a tweak.
A takeoff from a distant duct can drop airflow in the rooms that currently work. Static pressure does not care that you are hot in the bonus room. Old West Minisplits does not demolish duct, open ceilings for sheet metal, or add insulation. You arrange that work with another trade if you still want a register in the old system.

The indoor head mounts in the room that has no register. The outdoor condenser sits on a pad or on wall brackets. Between them runs a line set, not a bulky trunk.
